2000 Honda Civic Stereo Removal
OK, so the stereo removal on my girlfriend's 2000 Honda Civic is about as gay as it can be. To removal the head unit, I had to removal the glove box, the driver's side knee bolster, the lower console trim plate with 12V adapter...just to get to the screws necessary to pull out the entire front dash panel. That's right folks, you actually have to take the entire dash panel out to even get to the screws holding the stereo in place. And what was even cooler was that the wiring harnesses clipping into the climate controls and hazard lights had almost no play, so getting the damn thing in again later was just as fun . Removing the stereo on my Trans Am takes all of 1 minute...pop off the dash face plate, unscrew the stereo, oull it out and disconnect the wiring..ta da! Just thought I would vent!

I hope after all that you put an aftermarket one in there. What prompted the change?
yeah that shit is gay....i had to do that on a 98 civic i believe because the car got broken into....and it had to have body work and the radio and radio faceplate replaced. At first you think that faceplate should just pop out but no you have to tear down the entire dash for a 10 minute job on any other car. only one word comes to mind GAY

No new stereo being installed...When you disconnect the battery(i.e. changing her spark plugs), the radio makes your put in a 5 digit code to unlock the stereo feature for use again. Her dealer didn't write the unlock code in the owener's manual, so I had to remove the thing to find the head unit serial number.

Yeah that shit is real backwords. Try doing one in a Toyota Corrola. IIRC when I did my aunts I had to do the same thing but had to go in through the drives side dash. So the instrament cluster and stuff had to come out. Real HOMO ...

I replaced the stereo in Chrissy's '91 Civic when she had it and I def don't remember it being that much of a pain in the ass like the new ones. A simple few screws around the faceplate and I pulled it right out the front of the dash.
