BOSTON (AP) - Markey and Missouri congressman Fred Upton authored an amendment that would create a two-month extension of daylight-saving time.
The House Energy and Commerce Committee unanimously passed the amendment last Wednesday.
Under their plan, daylight-saving time would start a month earlier, on the first Sunday in March, and end a month later, on the last Sunday of November.
Markey says the benefits of a longer daylight-saving period would be savings in energy, less crime, fewer traffic fatalities and more recreation time.
The amendment is part of a broad energy bill that the full House is expected to vote on later this spring.

Ok that makes no sense to me. How does day light savings create less crime. I can see it saving energy, and creating more recreational time, but that is about it. Oh well I dont really see it affecting me so go for it.

Oh but it will JW, keep in mind you are in the IT field. Computers need to know when EST and EDT start. Sounds like a serive pack waiting to happen to me. I bet they don't think how much $$$$$ its gonna cost to make that change.

Steve you are correct. The more and more I thought about this last night, the more benifits I saw in it, and saw how it would effect me more. As for the whole IT thing, yeah I can see that being a mess to fix, and what about the whole calander industry, im sure all calanders will need some sort of adjusting. All in all it seems like a good idea, but putting it into affect may take alot of careful planning.

No, the gov't will just do it and everyone else will be forced to adjust as necessary.
