2004 Pontiac GTO
by CStingray78
I was browsing the MSN cars last night and found these new model shots for the 2004 Pontiac GTO. What do we think?
IMO, front end still looks like a Grand Prix. I think they could have done better to incorporate some of the older body style features and just updated them a little for the new model.

-THE SURGEON GENERAL WARNING NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT SMOKING A FORD
I think it's gonna be a badass ride, just worried that it's overpriced and won't sell. I guess we'll see....

I like it.
Bring back the '69 Judge. I guess it will grow on me. I like the old stuff.
Here's more pics... and this interesting blurb:
"At the heart of the GTO beats the outstanding 350-horsepower 5.7-liter LS1 powerplant from an American icon, the Chevrolet Corvette." - Road & Track
Well, what else did you expect to be under the hood? This ain't no Pinto!

Gotta hand it to the 69 GTO... Still something that the new car cannot compare to in the look. Kick ass Vehicle!

That's right man...the GTOs started the Muscle Car surge back in the '60s! Just can't wait for the new one to hit the road. I think it's scheduled out by Thanksgiving...

I wonder if it will stay true to its muscel car roots. Like will people be modifing it and racing it..

I'm not sure if it will be tuned for more drag racing, or actually GT racing. The Australian version of the GTO has been in GT racing for years. I think it's in the same class as the C5 Vettes and BMW M3s. I think it could go either way.

It seems to be a blend between a Grand Prix and a Bonneville with Corvette Power. Based on the Holden Monaro of Australia, a GM subsidiary, the new GTO physically doesn't seem to represent 'Fuel for the Soul'. I would be the first in line to test out it's accelaration in my '95 T/A in which I know I would decimate it, yet I really like the interior. I've heard rumors of 'The Judge' model which would encorporate a LS6 engine and hood scoops plus other goodies. A GTO should be recognized going down the road and not blend in with conformity. I don't mistake a Vette, Viper, WS-6, or Camaro SS with anything else, and with a reputation of being the 'original musclecar' , the new GTO needs to be more distinguished, don't you agree?
I hope they do SOMETHING to make it stand out from the crowd. To me, it looks like just another Grand Prix and probably wouldn't catch my attention right away if I didn't know what the car was.
Nice to see ya back on the message board Greg!
Tom
Point well made greg. But like you said the interior is spanking.

well said greg....i personally hate the look of it.....it looks like a honda civic mated with a Grand Prix....the styling on the car sucks....i like the interior and the fact that its RWD and has a V8....but like said before the style of that car sucks.....its doesn't even look like an old GTO
Pontiac has a concept out now that is a RWD V8 Grand Prix and personally i think the GP has better styling...its wider, shorter and has awesome body lines....i would probably take the GP over the GTO
from the Motor Trend Website:
2005 Pontiac Grand Prix: GM Performance Division will create a hi-po Grand Prix with a DOHC V-8 engine.
can't find a picture but as soon as i find one i'll post it

Guess we will have to wait and see if the speculations turn into reality.
