Carbon Fiber Hoods...
by CStingray78
OR NOT!
I have noticed the new fad for Imports is to put a flat black primer hood on a stock Civic to make it look like an $800 Carbon Fiber Hood. Whats the deal with Carbon Fiber anyways?? I will never understand. And BTW... the black primer isn't fooling anyone guys. It may look better with some stickers or a Type R Badge on it
Anyways, has anyone else noticed this "FAD"?

Actually, I haven't ... but now that you've mentioned it, I'll probably see it all of the time...

That is pretty gay.. And why dont they get the carbon fiber painted. I have seen hoods and stuff on muscle cars and they are painted to match.. Thats my 2 cents.

I guess its more of a way to show off that you paid that much money for a hood that looks the same as the stock one. And OK, it's lighter... but how many Hondas have you seen on a Nascar or Formula 1 racetrack? I could see needing the weight lessening materials there.
Besides, I guess the kids can show it off to their friends at school and boast "Look what mommy and daddy bought me this weekend for getting straight C's on my report card!" I bet they are so proud.

Damn Straight...
I go to high school and yes I have seen these fads. The primer hoods are gay. The Carbon hoods make no sense to me. Most carbon fiber you cannot paint.
carbon fiber hoods are very light as compared to you normal hood. go to a store and pick up one and then pick up a regular hood.
yeah it is a lot lighter but you know all those kids dont buy carbon fiber hoods for the weight loss they buy them for the looks it all started when honda made the spoon engin and for every car they put the spoon in they put the carbon fiber hood on and thats why they put carbon fiber hoods on there cars b/c they think they are tricking us into believing its a spoon car
How about I get you a SPOON, so you can eat my ASS Riceboy.

I do have to agree with matt.....carbon fiber is nice and light but it just looks so damn ugly and outta place on cars.....suxs u cant paint them...at least thats what i heard.....thats why if i get a hood for mine its deff gonna be fiberglass at least that way i can paint it

I dont think they look to bad on white cars, but any other color they look like shit. And i doubt it will give you any sort of performance except lowing the weight of your car. Now a carbon fiber drive shaft on the other hand, that is where it is at...
