Hello everyone, I was at the Thunderhead show a few weeks ago, and was just cleaning out my car and found a flyer for this sight. I have a green 95GT with mods, a black 01GT auto vert, and a basket case 68 coupe(I think the 95 has pics on here somewhere). I was also the idea person, helped with organization of, and Sponsor for the benefit car show at Walmart in Eldersburg for Officer Shane Evans' children on May 29, 2004. I noticed by browsing around that most of the people on this site are local to Central Maryland and I've probably crossed paths with many of you at some point, as I've been showing, restoring and racing Mustangs for 13 years. I work as an accountant during the week, but nights and weekends I have a side business with my father doing restoration, parts sales and performance work on classic and late model Mustangs(High Horse, Inc.). Thats my bio, whats up everyone? BTW, we would like some feedback on the Walmart show, as we are thinking of doing it again next year. Any critique is welcome, but we already know it took waayy to long to count the votes, which we will address in the future.

Tips for next year. More space, we got there at like 10:00 and the place was already filled to the brim. Also the whole vote counting situation. I know you werent expecting that many people but that really put a delay in the day. Also maybe have some classes or something rather then a bunch of awards. This way it gives more people a chance of winning something. I dont know out of the 6 or 7 we have been to this year, the walmart one was one of my favs, a very chill day with some very hot cars.

Oh and My parents live like one second from your house LOL. What sort of work do you do with mustangs. I have a 98 and am looking to to I/H/C ect to it somewhere down the road here. What do you recomend, how are your prices. Check out this thread it has a list of the mods i am doing to my car right now. But i will be looking into doing more in like 6 months from now. Let me know if you can help me out.

I'll go with what Jeremy said already. Also, we would also like to get involved in promoting shows. I know it is a huge undertaking getting a show together, but I would like to help out with one. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help with coordination and I'm sure a few of us can help.

Thanks for signing up!

Tom

Yea, we were thinking of possibly moving it for more space(possibly Sykesville Fire Dept. or something). I am all for having classes, but what do you think...like 1959 and earlier 1st, 2nd & 3rd place, then 1960-69 1st,2nd, 3rd, 70-79 1st, 2nd 3rd...and so on for every decade? I had suggested this, however, it was brought to my attention that it makes it difficult because the classes would need to park together to compare the cars to each other?? I thought we could still do the park where you want(more condusive to getting clubs involved), still have classes and still do participant ballott. What do you all think? The more input we have, the better the show can be. Trust me, the vote counting was a loonnggg process for all of us that were involved, and we know the participants were frustrated as well.

We have been to other shows where they have different colored Dash Spec sheets for the participants that correspond to the different classes. Then, the ballots have Top 3 or 4 entry spaces printed on a color coded paper to match the colors of the different colored paper Dash Spec sheets for the participants to put in their cars. That way, you can park wherever (with you own club for example) and not have to worry about reserving spots for classes.

If this is confusing as hell, let me know and I can try to explain it a little better.

I completely understand you..and its a great idea that could be/probably will be implemented..I think that in itself would cut down on count time as well. Thanks

Well you dont even need that many classes. You could do something like
Import
Antique
hotrod
late model
etc..

And you dont need to have everyone park together. The way you do it is you color code the classes and make the little info flyer with the owners name ect that color. So people know what each car is registerd as with a quick and easy glance. And like Tom said we were thinking of putting together our own show, or helping out some way with others shows. Any idea on how we can get started doing this.

Jeremy

True, that would make it more simplistic..

The show...we contacted the Roadrunners Auto Club to help, as they had organized shows in the past..they had hookups for trophies, dash plaques, flyer design, copies and general organization of how the shows run. My company and Wheeler kicked in money for trophies, plaques and dash plaques. The Roadrunners contacted Walmart (having the show on their lot eliminated the need for an insurance policy specific to the show and the need for bathrooms). The Bluz Brothers (which I am in) beat up the local retailers (who were very supportive) & mail order companies for door prizes and chinese auction items(Jegs, Summit, Year One and Eastwood Company and many others have ready made car show kits that they can send). We(Roadrunners and Bluz Brothers) went to every show in the area placing flyers in cars, went online to get car club addresses, and sent letters and flyers out to every club we could find an address for. We were initially looking into having the show at Liberty High School, but you need an insurance rider and to pay for the bathrooms to be opened(a publically funded facility you have to pay for to use Rolling Eyes ). Having the show at Walmart eliminated some cash outlay and I am sure Walmart received plenty of business from participants.

Welcome aboard, Tom and Jeremy already voiced all the things from the show, we all basically shared the same thoughts. I am glad that you all had the turnout that you did, it was for a great cause.

I never knew that you had to pay to use public bathrooms, that makes no sense Shocked

Like Tom said just let us know what ever help that you need for your next one to get our feet wet in planning a show.

We will stop by and see you at 75/80 this weekend.

Where do your parents live at? I've done just about everything imagineable on pushrod cars, engine rebuilds,Trans swaps, and complete restorations...I have not completed any work on modulars as of yet...this being the reason I bought the 01. I do not carry parts for late model cars yet..but I may be doing a buy in with Latemodel Restoration Supply in the fall to get rolling in that market. I've been carrying restoration parts for classics for over 5 years and have worked on various years of classics..the 302 engine hasn't changed much since its introduction in '67 so I've used that knowledge on the '95 (though the ECU in this car drives me nuts). I could help with just about anything as long as I am not busy with a customer car, my car or a family car (note the fleet of Mustangs in the driveway)...I also have a small garage that I rent in Eldersburg to work on cars in. Depending on what you are looking for parts wise, I may be able to get it for you, or at least give you a direction to look in for the best price. I'm always happy to lend a helping hand if possible. I don't know if anyone warned you, on the gear swap if you have a higher mileage car, the ABS sensors can be a real bitch to remove, and many times are broken during removal. I think they are like $48-$55 each, so be as careful as possible with those spray some PB blaster or WD-40 on them prior to removal..they are like gold!! I'll talk with you on Sunday.

My parent live off of constilation way. I always saw that 95 mustang parked in the driveway when ever i drove by. I always thought it was stock, never knew it had that much done to it. As for the gear install im not doing that myself. I have a ford mechanic preforming the operation for me. I guess next step im looking at is probally heads cams and maybe an intake. I would really like to put a KB super charger on it, but am afraid to with the high millage engine. I dont know what is your opinion on what my next mod should be. I will talk to you on sunday. Really sounds like you know your mustang stuff.

Dude, I think your next MOD should be saving up for a new Mustang. And where the shit are you dreaming up that you have enough money for a supercharger?!?! Are you a drug dealer?

HAHA, J/K... Now I have 2 cars that I have to split up my funds between to fix stuff. But, thats what Hobbies are all about!
