I guess if I HAD to pick one of them, it would be the VW Golf. Then, I could take it over to EIP to get it "hooked up" Laughing ROFL

My pocket likes having something that gets 30mpg. That way I have more cash to sink into the one that sucks more fuel. Very Happy

I should be a happy camper this week now that I "got" my economy car back again. Thanks again Tom! Wink

I wish i had an ecconmy car for this same reason steve. I love my gas guzzler, and wouldnt have anything but it. However for those long everday drives it makes sence to drive the crappy fuel efficient cars.

You can do some S with the turbo-diesel VW's.(Dongger--they probably have closer to 80 FRONT wheel horsepower). With an ECU upgrade and Euro-spec injector tips, the VW turbodiesel should put down about 300 pound-feet of torque to the wheels. That might take its 0-60 time from 10 seconds to 9 nine seconds.

true that! i may only get 16 mpg highway but when you want a fast car miles per gallon isnt the first thing you look at..if anything you look away...what i find funny is when people talk about having a fast car that gets 30 mpg (a.k.a. ricers) you cant really get a car thats got both speed and economic appeal its one or the other dont make excuses...lol

the thing is though i get good gas milage and my car is qiuck......thing that sucks for your cars is all they can do is go fast and straight. that is the one thing i love about my car......Every one can run their mouths bout how imports sux and that they are just a turd.....true the rumble is nice from the engine but ill take my turbo charged four cylinder 2.0 L engine any day.......YOUR MISSING THE FACT........theres more to a car then going straight and fast......since when is a car not supposed to handle.

This is a couple notes by me(Brent) on mikes name...cause i'm frustrated Evil or Very Mad

Ok lets take some new cars for example...no i don't know the exact specs...but you all have a round about idea of them...
ok take a evo or sti or even the R32...put them up against a new vette or a mustang(GT to make you happy or hell even a cobra) for pricing you'd get most of the those cars for cheaper than the vette but not sure about the cobra or GT. Look at the the displacement of Litres and horse power. In the imports you have about half the Litres of the domestics yet the same horsepower and and they are a lot lighter. Yeah ok you don't have that loud rumble of the v8 but who needs it when they are spankin a v8. Plus any one of those imports will outhandle a vette or mustang in a heartbeat. Y not have the horse power of a domestic, have better handling than one, and hell even some cheaper...what's wrong with that?

PS...you claim this to be a SWEETRIDES site right? But all i see is a domestic, Import bashing site. Don't you want everyone to join and put their cars in, but how will any one of the import likings want to when all that you do is criticize them. I mean yeah i do have a Trans Am but when i get spanked by a STI or EVO i give more props to them

God created turbo lag to give V8's a chance.

I don't see this as an 'Import Bashing' site... Look at Josh's posts. If we had more people step up to the plate and represent the import scene, then you wouldn't see this apparent bias.
The target of the import bashing seems to be centered around the people who do things to their cars to make it seem faster than it really is.
That target just seems to happen to be mostly Honda/Nissan/Toyota owners. And if you checkout the www.ricecop.com you will see Firebirds, Mustangs, and other domestics "riced" out. However, once again, the majority of 'rice' cars are imports.

Damn Brent, I think you needed to put a few more of these icons in that post. Cuss Cuss Cuss

Anyways, we are not out to bash quote "ricers" and shy them away from this site. More power to them. But when I see a some guy pimpin in a car that looks like what we did to Greg's Probe:

Now, that is the rediculous shit I am talking about. Now, an EVO, STI, or R32 are still badass and can definately hold their own. Its not those types of cars we make fun of. I guess when I think "Ricers" its the kids out there with their mom's 4 door honda accord that they cut the springs on, put flashy decals on, huge wing and coffee can to make it out to be faster than what it is.... a Family Car.

Now, if you are going to get and EVO or comparable, you know what performance is all about, regardless if it doesn't have a V8 in it. To each their own I guess, but this is not meant to be a Haterz Site.

Ok Brent to kind of sum this whole thing up. I will be quoting from the ricehaterclub.com website
Welcome to the Rice Haters Club!!!
Who Are We?
We are a bunch of red-blooded automotive enthusiasts that eat, drink, sleep and shit cars. We believe in doing what ever it is you want to do to your ride, be it a stocker or an all-out dragster, as long as it doesn't veer off into the Ricer World.

What do we consider "Ricer" to be? Well, if you have to ask, you probably shouldn't be here, but I'll humor your inquisitiveness anyway.

Any bone stock ride that is covered in stickers from companies that have nothing to do with that ride is a Ricer.
Any ride with a paint job that looks like something Walt Disney threw-up is a Ricer.
Any ride with more bondo than sheet metal is a Ricer.
Any ride with undercarriage lighting is a Ricer.
Any ride with neon ANYWHERE is a Ricer (beer trucks omitted).
Any ride with wheels 3 sizes too small or too large is a Ricer.
Fartpipe coffee can exhaust? Ricer.
"R" Badges? Ricer.
Monster tach in a mechanically stock vehicle? Ricer.
Ground effects bought at Home Depot? Ricer.
Fake scoops mounted where even real scoops would serve no purpose? Ricer.
A spoiler that more resembles a picnic basket handle? Ricer.
Aviation parts mounted "for better traction"? Ricer.
Defrost ducts painted with latex paint to match the color of the sticker on the brake pads? Ricer.

A Ricer doesn't have to be an Import. There are plenty of Riced-out Domestics on the road. In fact, many of our members own Imports. We are NOT anti-Import, we are anti-Ricer.

So if this sounds like the kind of place for you, come on inside and hang out a while.

I feel we fit very well into this catagory when it comes to bashing. I myself am not an import hater, i love my brothers car, and the evo, sti, r32 ect. It is the ricer mentality that i bash, not whether the car is import or not. I know there are some people on here we do bash the import versus domestic, but i feel that is wrong. I realy think we need to get a stronger fan base of the imports of this site so they can hold their own. This is a car enthusist website, not a american domestic enthusiest website. Rolling Eyes

you know mike you have a good point that yeah its fuckin crazy when a 4 cyl. spanks a v8 but since when has it been only about performance....i could never replace my car with an import b/c i would miss the rumble of my v8 and all the attributes that come with the v8's that you cant get from a four banger...im not saying i wouldnt have an import i actually am a big fan of the STI. everybody has to have a faster car then the next guy well i say this "if your not willing to compare a stock ricer to a stock v8 then your comparing much less then a whole genre against another (ricers v.s. musclecars) your comparing personal interests with the person you are racing. b/c you could be racing another import or a v8 it doesnt matter as long as you and your opponent have aftermarket mods then your not comparing ricers v.s. musclecars, your comparing YOUR CAR not mitsubishi's car to my car not fords car...b/c i chose to put exhaust and intake and shit on my car and you chose to put on your car what you chose to put on your car!" if that was to confusing then this might work... no matter what 90% of the time you put a v8 against a 4 cyl in a drag race the v8 will win ...in the rare event that it does not you can always can compare overall cost and i guarantee the ouner of the v8 spent less money, and in a road coarse 90% of the time an import will beat a v8 but i'll take you on a back road and show you how a v8 can handle you chose any import in westminster and i bet i beat him on a westminster back road..ok i think i've talked enouph shit!....lol
