Thats right folks the good old stang is up and trotting in the fields again. Man what a mess that was. It started about 4 months ago when the coolent crossover in my lower intake manifold cracked. Well we dissassembled the whole thing which is pretty much the whole top half of the engine. The car basically set with just the block and heads for like 3 months while I debated about a plan of attack. Well I ended up deciding that the best way to fix it would be to just keep it stock for the time being. So I went out and spent an arm and a leg to get an updated stock intake manifold. Yeah that is right this one has an aluminum cross over, where my old one was plastic. No craking here.

Well I got the time to put it all back together on saterday. Everything went pretty good. We had your normal problems of loosing bolts and numerous trips to the store to replace them. The only major issue we ran into was we snaped a screw that held the EGR valuve in place. Well it snapped flush with my upper intake manifold. So that required about 2 hours of drilling and trying to back it out. The damn thing kept snapping or would snap out tools. Good thing they were craftsmans. We ended up drilling the whole thing out and retapping it for a slightly larger bolt. Ended up working just fine.

The car started up on the first try after a good jump start, this amazed the hell out of me becuase I had never done this extent of work to a motor before. First trip out I ended up blowing a coolent hose so back to the store for more anti freeze. Tightened that clamp down and attached a vacume hose that we missed and it ran fine. It runs a bit rough at idel still and backfires a little but I am chalking that up to the full tank of gas that has sat in there for 4 months. I am going to run that out and fill it up and run some gas cleanser through it and see if that helps if not it will be back to inspecting our work.

Oh well glad to have it running again, many thanks go out to my dad and brother becuase it would have never gotton done with out them...

Fun Fun Fun. Its cool diving into projects like that... just not TOO often. Will it be at the Kohls get together in a few weeks for the trip to the battlefield?

My plan is for it to be that way. I havent really had a chance to check my schedual yet, but it should be free. Between work and going back to school things are going to be tight, but I would love to make this event. I hope it is running 100% by then.

It was actually really fun just got frustrating at times... Oh well I would do it again.
