A beautiful day at the MD Emmisions Inspection Station...
by 98gtvert
Well today is March 29th 2006, the deadline to have my Mustang emmision tested. Since I have no CATs I have to relay on electoric trickory to be able to pass emmisions, and pray that they dont do a visual test.
Well I knew I was going to fail becuase I had a check engine light on, and that is automatic failure regardless of the reason for the light. Well I had Mike K come over last night to turn it off. His dad was nice enought to lend his OBDII scanner to us. With the light off I was hoping that I would pass and that the computer didnt store any codes that werent throwing a check engine light. Anyways I saw that the emissions placed opened at 7:00 so I decided to stop in on my way to work. Well I get there and no one is in line perfect, it would be an in an out operation. Next thing I know I see a tech walking up to my car with something in his hand and my heart sunk I thought he had one of the mirrors to visually inspect my car. But as he got closer I realized it was a wheel stop for use while on their rollers. Next thing I know he is putting it up against my car and was like Sir it looks like you are to low to fit on the rollers, roll around front and park and meet me in the office. So at this point I didnt know what to think. I get around front and meet him inside and he hands me a slip saying I am excempt for 2 years. He also didnt ask me to pay the 14$ fee either.
So morral of the story is my car sits to low, and I bypassed emissions for anouther 2 years. I am also 14$ richer... I think the guy was just lazy and didnt feel like testing me, but oh well I will take it as a win for the mustang...

lucky biotch....i dont understand why though...with obdII you dont need to go over rollers...they just plug the compu in to the ECU. oh well good for you!

I was thinking the same thing myself... To get to where they test you it is on the other side of the rollors, but come on here lets use our brains I could have rolled around and just backed into the bay.. I think the guy was just being lazy.. Oh well.

Dude, you have some friggin luck. Hopefully Steve doesn't read this post anytime soon cause you would shit to hear the aggrevation he went through at the Owing Mills Station with his Exploder.
Yeah that was the station I was orginally planning on going to. I was going to take it over my lunch break. It was only a last minute realization that they opened at 7:00 so I was like screw it I will hit up the Westminster one on my way to work. I had been to the Owings Mills one once with the focus, and they gave me some grief becuase it wasnt registered in my name. Oh well I guess I should play the lotto today or something...

Yeah, you are lucky. I took the 3000gt up the other day was able to get by with only the sniff test since my car too low to fit on the AWD roller system. They still sniffed me, however if they tried you you would have been done. Nice!
