Not sure what we want to do yet we were thinking maybe a 50's pick up and doing it rat style, or maybe a late 60's or early 70's mustang or camaro, or we may just do a willies style jeep. Not sure yet, and it will ultimatly be my dads final descion since he will be the finacial provider for the project, and his car in the end..

Man, nice score! I need to pick up a torque wrench so I can stop borrowing my dad's! How do you like yours?

I made out very well. I got some sweet cooking gear from my girlfriend's parents...two nice saute pans and some mixing and baking bowls/pans. From my parents we got a nice chef knife set. I also got an electric tire inflator.

I put all the money from relatives towards a 7" Lilliput touch screen that I will be installing in my car in the next few weeks. I'll start a post as I do the install with all the pics of the components I have already(ITPS shutdown controller, my Dell C840 work laptop, docking station, etc).

Oh, and what prompted your dad's desire for a vehicle restoration? Sounds like a nice project you guys can all work on for years to come. What other cars/trucks is he into?

The torque wrenches are pretty nice so far, havent really had a chance to really use them, just tested them out on some lug nuts. They are the click kind so they arent anything special, but for the price, they were onsale for 55$ I couldnt beet them with a stick. If you are interested in them I think they were onsale again last weekend for the same price I would look into them and see if you can score them again for that price, I think they are reguarly 75$.

As for the resoration project, he has always wanted to restore and old jeep like Tom's dad. But I think he sees my brother and I working on the cars and wants to be one of the guys. I know his dream car would be to do a jeep, but he mentioned he would also be interested in a late 60's camaro. I myself would love to do an old pick up, I just love the way they look when painted flat black, with a flat red pin stripe. So I dont know my mom and him have been talking about either building a larger shed/1 car garage in the back yard, or adding anouther spot onto the side of our exciting garage. I guess nothing to major would happen till one of the above two happened. But it is looking pretty good that with in the next year or so we will be picking something up for a project car to all work on together.

Well i think i made out very well also. here's the list:

HP Photosmart 2575v - All in One Printer
40,000 BTU Propane Heater for the garage
good set of Jumper Cables
Craftsman Rotary Tool Set (dremel)
Saws-all (bought that my self)
Lowes Gift Cards
Home Depot Gift Cards
Stainless Steel Grill Utensil set
DodgeBall DVD
New Shinedown, Trapt, 10 years CDs

Jeremy with your restoration project. A couple of things to think about while looking for a car/truck.

First, how easy is it to find / get parts for this car?
Second, how do you want to restore this car? back to orginal? Mild Modifided?
Doing an old jeep or truck, could be tough just because of finding parts. picking a later model car like 69 Camaro, Mustang, Chevelle, or Nova would make it easier on all of you. cuz parts are easier to find. good luck on this project

Mike, kinda unrelated, but wanted to see how you were feeling after your visit to the hospital...

OK, my loot list:
    1. Black & Decker 18V Cordless drill, reciprocating saw, circular saw, and lamp with interchangeable 18V battery pack. Whole bunch of drill bits, hole saws, and other misc attachments for the 4 piece set.
    2. Big motha humpin air hockey table for the basement, really cool.
    3. Stuff for the house like new silverware setup for 8, knives, and a mighty potato masher!
    4. Texas Hold 'Em Poker chip set in carrying case.
    5. Molded floor mats for the rear and cargo area for my new Jeep.
    6. Civil War print for the living room to go with the one we already have.
    7. Dining room furniture (we bought)
Probably some other small things that I am forgetting at the moment, buts thats the majority.

O, and I also went to Texas to spend part of the holidays with Christine's Grandfather and Mom. Feel free to check out the pics.

I agree with you there. In my head I am thinking we would probally do something mildly modified. Like I said the descion is up to my dad but I think we are looking for something of a challange, not something we will slap together in two weekends, a bit of an exageration, but you get the point. A chevelle or a nova sound like neat projects, I will suggest them. Oh and as for the older style pick ups Wendy's dad is redoing one, and from what I gather alot of parts can be borrowed from early mustang and mustang II's. I think his whole front and rear suspension set up in it are out of a mustang II, the crate engine he has going into it is a carberated 5.0. He is keeping/repairing all the orginal body panels, but has mentioned that the trucks are so popular to redo that they have created complete fiberglass replacement beds and cabs. So I dont know finding parts for a jeep would be tough I think but for a truck I think we would be in the clear...

So Jeremy you know that restoring a car can kind of get dirty. Who is going to prepare you Mom for this? Hopefully you will build a new garage that can get dirty. Twisted Evil

Christmas wasn't too bad this year, got some clothes and some tools.

But the worst part came on New Years Day! I was on my way to help my Dad on a job on Trenton Mill Road and got hit head on by a 2005 Equinox that was on my side of the road. I got a ride to CC general and the other guy got a helicopter ride to shock trauma, even though he didn't need it. We both got out of the car and were walking around ok.

Can't say the same for the vehicles, both were totaled, so Dad needs a new truck for a new year.

I had both feet on the brakes when I saw him coming around the corner on my side and just about came to a full stop when he hit me at 35mph. Bent the pedal when he hit me. He never saw me, how you miss a truck that big is beyond me. Anyway you can see what it looks like when you hit a brick wall at 35mph!
