4wd civic, prelude, or any fwd car
I was just wondering how hard it would be to convert a FWD car into a 4WD car. The only thing with FWD cars is that they just spin like hell when they launch off the line.
Just wanted to welcome you to the board first off...
Second off, I think it would be pretty damn difficult to make that all happen since there is no transfer case or rear hookups on the rear differential to accept a drive shaft to power the rear wheels. Probably better off buying an R32 or an Audi that is already AWD.

It can be done, but be prepared to drop loads of cash to do it right. For instance you can convert any MK4 VW to all wheel drive to the tune of anywhere between $12,000 - $15,000. Like Tom said you need a different tranny, drive shaft, rear axil, transfer case, Rear floor pan, electornics to work it all, new rear suspension components, new gas tank etc.. Alot is involved and it is all very costly. You are better off buying an STI EVO or R32, basically something that is all wheel drive already.
Oh and welcome..

Alright welcome to the forums. Now thats outta the way, it is virtualy impracticle to do that kinda swap to a car that was never engineered for that. you would spend WAY to much money on something that doesnt need that. I have a hard time believing that you are pushing that much horsepower that you would consider a mod like this. Best bet would be to take those skinny ass tires off the front and lay wider rubber on the ground, or keep them and run drag radials when your racing. AWD civic huh...put your money into something else, trust me i have seen civics makin 10 sec passes without an AWD system.
and if you do want that deff dont get a voltswagon cause you might as well spend your money on the AWD system for your civic, youll spend just as much fixin the VW when it breaks all the time.

God created turbo lag to give V8's a chance.
