Help with my civic
What happened to the original guy who posted this topic?... I think he would really be surprised to see how it took off
He probably got scared away.
— BLCKOUT92ITS fuckn pussy cause once you run out your still left with that gay piece of shit u call a car. so yea mabye i will see your tail lights for about what um 10 sec, but when your baby bottle runs out i still got the power to catch ya pass ya and keep going....who wants to brag about a car that has horsepower for seconds. what is that. grow some balls and put on a power adder that adds ALL the time.
It only takes seconds to get through the 1/4 mile unless you're in a Fast and Furious movie..
— mazdaspeed10420I have to agree with Mike in a sense, however i dont believe that nitrous is for pussys. I think that nitrous should be used on fast cars not stock cars (personal belief). I would rather have a turbo civic than a civic with a 75 shot because the 75 shot of nitrous would not always be practical. If you have a bad ass car then spray nitrous.
You are comparing apples to oranges. Everyone would rather have a turbo car (for the most part), but if you are factoring in a budget and are going to spend money for mods, make them worthwhile. I'd take my 75 horsepower some of the time than 10 horsepower all of the time. There are enough runs in a 10lb bottle to handle a full night of stoplight encounters and then some. Trust me, I know all the downfalls of nitrous, pulling timing, adding fuel, gapping down the plugs..all these things kill N/A power..plus the $40 for refills and every shop in the area acting as if they are doing you a favor by filling the bottle..however, dollar for dollar, there is not one power adder that can beat it!! The downfalls also made me switch to a supercharger and I am much happier. That does not mean that everyone should use a supercharger because I do and "turbos are for pussies"! The only thing that would show is ignorance and a lack of experience with using different power adders. Since I have used or built cars with all 3, it is my opinion that turbos are the best and most efficient power adder available, however, they do not necessarily fit every persons needs or wants.
alright first off your tellin me a civic cant pull off 20hp from a full exhaust and a intake and that my turbo is only a 10hp gain.........yea ok. secondly if you use that bottle once a week for a year you have already spend 2g in just fillin up the bottle ad in the setup for what 300 bucks and you just bought your self a turbo setup. not to mention all the damage your gonna do runnin you engine (stock) with nitrous....you will slowly blow the shit outta it.
God created turbo lag to give V8's a chance.

My post had NOTHING to do with a turbo only making 10hp, I was referring to exhaust and intake making 10hp, perhaps I was not clear on that. I hate to inform you, a properly tuned nitrous set up will last just as long as a properly tuned turbo/supercharger setup, perhaps even longer since the stress of extra horsepower/tq is not constantly being thrown at the engine. Have you ever even used nitrous or a supercharger? As I said, the extended cost of nitrous does add up, it is one of the downfalls, however, I was still referring to upfront cost and ease of installation. I ran nitrous on a 112,000 mile longblock with absolutely no problems. Despite the internet B/S you read (or where ever you get your information from) nitrous is just as safe as any other power adder, and will not cause damage with proper tuning and fuel delivery!
And please, please show me some real world dyno numbers (not from the manufacture) where a N/A Civic picked up 20 hp at the wheel with a CAI, header and exhaust, I'd love to be proven wrong on this one!! My friends RSX Type-s couldn't pull it off, like I said, he got 10hp at the wheel, real world numbers, not from a magazine or advertiser in said magazine!!
I figured nitrous wouldn't be cost effective, or really practical on a street driven car. Makes more sense on a vehicle built for driving straight.

I don't race around corners!!
if nitrous is so safe then why is it outlawed while turbos and s/c's arnt?

really for someone who is just gettin into the swing of things...(the poster)...he sounds like he is still learnin the basics of modding. start off with baby steps and do the easy intake and exhaust. im sure nothing would be more confusin then boltin on a nitrous kit...and i know you have experience with it horse but im willin to put money on it that the dude with the civic doesnt, which will result in a blown civic engine.

You are probably correct about that...

I have a civic 2004 and I would like to know what can i buy/change to raise the HP and/or torque.
Thnx
One thing u better not do is do show before go, I just hate it when guys/gals put visuals before performance.(nuttin against you
I think a happy mixture of show and go is good. I know some may disagree with that by putting a high HP motor in a beat up car, but I think there is a happy medium of the two. Soup things up to be agressive on the street, but still look good enough to turn heads as you drive by. Thumping stereos don't count
