I know i was talkin to Keys about this car the other day but yesterday i got to take a ride in it. Holy shit this car moves. I didnt know how fast it really was till we went out onto I95 yesterday around lunch. we were headin out twords jessup and this dude with a white LS1 TA got beside us and started jerkin his car wantin us to bite and race. But the guy (jason) was like nah, im not gonna try. anyhow we got off at 175 and the TA followed us. Then like always we got a red light and he lined up with us. i asked the guy what he had done to it just to make convo real quick, and he told me he got it like three days back n it was still stock.....but he said it doesnt matter cause i still would smoke that civic anyways. well jason didnt like that to much. i told him not to mess with the TA cuase they move, and as soon as i said that the light went green and he litteraly made me eat my words as the sounds that just came outta my mouth were being forced back in as i was pinned in his seat. i could not believe i was in the passenger seat of a civic. we slowed down to let the TA catch back up n the dude wouldnt even look back over even after i yelled to him haha....i still was in shock i was like damn those are like mid 13 sec cars and jas was like yea i know he then told me that in the glove box was his time slips from last weekend after he tuned his car......four passes and he was pretty dead on each time.....the fastest time he ran was 12.98 and the slowest was a 13.04

My god i couldnt get over that.....we got back to work n he was showin me all he had done to it n guess what.........THERE IS NO TURBO.....the car n/a that was all engine power. im tryin to get him to post some picks of his car and what not...anyhow it was pretty cool ride so i thought i would share it with ya

You can get some pretty good NA horse power out of those civics... I dont understand why more people dont. Most people with civics are more concerned with a big body kit and fart pipe, but I have seen some pretty damn quick civics, in the street racing sceen and what not... Cool

Sounds like the guy in the TA was a littly cocky. I bet that was one story he couldn't brag to his friends about.

Great story Mike, I could visualize it while I read the story. Is it still a 4 cyl or has he dropped another motor in it?

Alot of honda guys who stay NA drop acura motors in the car. So they are 4 cyclander but run high compression. This guy Brian used to work at lonestar had this beat up piece of shit like 89 civic, that eh had dropped an acura motor in and from what I remember he could keep up with Brents TA, I dont think he could beat it but he could hang... Those civics are just so damn light...

I believe it is a b18c1 block with a ported/polished GSR DOHC w/VTEC head, vtec control, 4 to 1 headers, full exhaust, cold air intake, AEM fuel rail w/fuel pressure guage and regulator, ported intake manifold 650 cc injectors 190 lpf fuel pump, forged internals n sleves.....im sure there is more but i cant remeber it all

Regardless, at the end of the day it is still a civic with a lot of money in it. Take that money and put it into something more than an econobox and those low 13's/high 12's are low 12's/high 11's.

Tearing the car apart is always the fun part. Put it back together the way it came apart is the pain in the ass part... Rolling Eyes

Plus, when you rebuild your car, you find all those extra parts they throw in there.. just keep those out when you put it back together and see how it still runs! sometimes you have to sacrifice things, like steering, but hell if it makes it lighter... who needs steering on the strip, right? just aim it and go! lol Razz

How much can a N/A tuneup for the civic cost? Wouldnt it be better to just add simple ol' turbo?

With the stock engine swap that he is referring to the b18c1 produces about 180 hp 150 tq and 8200 rpm rev limiter which is fairly adequate for a honda civic. Adding small bolt ons lessens the amount of risk you put your car at the harder you tune your car the more problems you are gonna face. when adding a turbo you need to enhance the fuel system as well and the more kinks you are gonna have to work out over time. But you gotta love Boostin cus i sure do.

Yea you will always run into kinks when tunning a car... But the more horse power the better...
