I have recently found an online savings account that gives you 3% interest. there is no commitment for any period of time and there isn't any minimum balances or maintenance fees. I've talked with a couple of you guys and the general concensus us that banks suck. the account is with ING Direct and if your interested, pm me with your email address and i'll send you a referal link. You get $25 to start off with. check it out @ www.ingdirect.com. Even if you don't use me as a referal, it's a killer deal.

Something about saving money on the internet seems a little fishy. I can handle the online banking and such but I would be a bit leary about having an internet company have control of my savings. However 3% interest is pretty damn sweet... I may have to look into this some and see if it is worth the risk or not.

I would have never thought about internet savings bank. But, the fact that they are Member FDIC really helps lower the "fishyness" since they have to be recognized by the gov't to acutally be legit. Have you set something up yet Cliff?

I guess being a member of the FDIC helps take away some of that worry. I will definatly have to look into this further.

Yeah, It's no riskier than online billpay and banking. I've set up an account and it's exactly what they say. Both my uncle and dad are financialy savvy and they both signed off on it. In fact my uncles been with them for about a year. It's really ease and sure beats .0014% interest. PM me with your email addy and i'll send you a referal link.

if you sign up, you don't have to put any money in and you still get $25 to start.

I am in as well. I did some research on them since I thought it sounded like a scam, but they are legit and they are insured. Even if they go under I get my money back. The only real catch is that when you want access to your money you have to transfer it into a checking account and it may take 2 days to clear. Other than that they are just like any other bank....just with alot better rates!

You should still be able to get the $25. I know I got mine, and the referal program is still going on.

Program Details:

Share the benefits of the Orange Savings Account with your friends and family! For helping to spread the news about great rates with no minimums and no fees, ING DIRECT will credit your account up to $250. Simply fill in as many as 25 names and email addresses and we will send each person an email inviting them to enjoy the benefits of the Orange Savings Account. By opening an account each friend will receive a $25 Welcome Bonus and you will receive a $10 Thank You Bonus. If 25 of your friends and family open a new account you will receive $250 in Thank You Bonuses!

Your friends MUST use the referral link within the email sent from this screen to ensure they get the $25 Welcome Bonus (and gift money, if applicable). If you would like, you can add a personal note telling your friends about the Orange Savings Account. We will send the email on your behalf, so that the "From" field will display your name and the email address we have for you. This will make sure they don't think it's annoying spam!
