Project: Mustang

Well, got to see Steve's latest purchase...
A '91 Mustang GT that will now be his project car. I got a few pics and I will post them when I get home this weekend. Def. a fixer upper, and he was already getting a parts list together with his buddy Mike. They are shooting for April to have it rebuilt and road ready. Just in time for car weekend.

Here are the inprogress photos from the weekend. Plans have changed a little bit but we are still hoping to have it done for car weekend. I had a smile on my face for most of the day on Sat. So far so good, a few bumps in the road, but we are past most of them. Thats why its a project!
The stock motor is comin out this weekend while we get the parts together for the transplant motor.
Gotta thank everyone who has helped out so far. Tom and Chrissy as the master picture takers. Nick and Mike for letting me borrow tools and most of all their TIME. I wouldn't have gotten this far this quick without their help.

looks like yer doin good so far. you gonna hide some wires while the engines out? if so, and you need any tips, heres something i put together that may help...

We should be ready to get the old one out this weekend, the only thing left holding the block in there is the tranny and the motor mounts. As you can see below we found another little problem. A very bad head gasket. Just another reason to rebuild it!
We also found some, how should we say this...."Custom" exhaust work from the previous owner. Nothing like soup cans welded in place over the pipes. Nothing a torch and a saw can't fix!

So Steve what all are the plans for this car. Do you plan on adding a body kit or anything. What all is in line performance wise.

Took a while to get a few minutes to put up this weekends activities.
We managed to get the old motor outta the car and start workin on getting the new one in. All the odds and ends have been ordered so we can start boltin stuff on. Hopefully we can set the new motor in a few weeks.
Jeremy, I will get a list together of all the stuff that we are puttin on and post it for you. Right now my plan for this car is to have some fun. Its sure not a looker at this point. Right now its about goin fast in a straight line. Maybe in a year or 2 she will get a coat of paint, but that is a long way off. Motor stuff is way to $$$$ to have paint in the budget right now.
I thought about building a really big hamster wheel. How fast can you run nick? Sorry bud couldn't resist it!

I dont know if Nick will be able to put out the horse power that Steve is looking for. We may have to hop him up on some red bull aka a supercharger. That should give Steve the results he is looking for...

Hey Steve,
Everything looks pretty good so far.....looks like your doing alright if you haven't hit to many bumps.....make sure while your doing it that your marking everything as you do it....that way when its time to put everything back together you know where everything is....most of the things i ran into with my motor swap was brackets that i had to fabricate...but thats the fun part.....are you just putting in another 5.0 or are you going with a different block?....Since it was a 5.0 car to start with that will make it easier to do....suspension, wiring harness, and exhaust can stay the same for now.....well good luck with everything.....if anything transplanting another engine is fun but more of a learning experience then anything....i look foward to seeing more pics of the progress made

351w based swaps are just about as easy in these cars... also very worth the extra trouble when you consider the power that can be made from say a 408 stroker
